Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

Dia mangataka aho mba tsy ho sahy, rehefa tonga, amin' ny fahatokiana izay kasaiko hahasahiana amin' ny sasany, izay manao anay ho mandeha araka ny nofo.

Aoka re aho mba tsy ho voatery ho sahy tokoa rahefa tonga; fa lalina loatra anie izato fikasako hanampatra fahasahiana amin' ny olona sasany izato e, dia amin' ireo manao anay ho mandeha ara-batana!

Je vous en prie : que je n' aie pas, une fois chez vous, à user hardiment de cette assurance dont j' entends avoir l' audace contre certaines gens qui pensent que notre conduite s' inspire de la chair.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

Fa na dia velona amin' ny nofo aza izahay, dia tsy mba miady araka ny nofo

Na dia mandeha anatin' ny vatana aza izahay, dia tsy miady ara-batana;

Nous vivons dans la chair, évidemment, mais nous ne combattons pas selon la chair.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Non, les armes de notre combat ne sont point charnelles, mais elles ont, au service de Dieu, la puissance de renverser les forteresses. Nous renversons les sophismes

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Vonon-kamay ny tsy mpanaiky rehetra izahay, rahefa tontosa ny fanekenareo.

Et nous sommes prêts à châtier toute désobéissance, dès que votre obéissance sera parfaite.

Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ' s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ' s, even so are we Christ' s.

Rendez-vous à l'évidence. Si quelqu' un se flatte d'être au Christ, qu' il se le dise une bonne fois : de même qu' il est au Christ, nous le sommes aussi.

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

Et dussé-je me glorifier un peu trop de notre pouvoir, que le Seigneur nous a donné pour votre édification et non pour votre ruine, je n' en rougirais pas.

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

mba tsy hisehoako toy ny ta-hampitahotra anareo amin' ny epistily.

Tsy te-hiseho ho toy ny olona te-hampatahotra anareo foana amin' ny taratasy aho;

Car je ne veux pas paraître vouloir vous effrayer par mes lettres.

For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

Fa ny epistiliny, hoy izy, dia mavesatra sy mahery; fa malemy kosa ny fanatrehan' ny tenany, ary tsinontsinona ny teniny.

" Les lettres, dit-on, sont énergiques et sévères ; mais, quand il est là, c' est un corps chétif, et sa parole est nulle. "

Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

Qu' il se le dise bien, celui-là : tel nous sommes en paroles dans nos lettres quand nous sommes absent, tel aussi, une fois présent, nous serons dans nos actes.

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Fa izahay tsy sahy hanao ny tenanay ho isan' ny sasany izay midera tena, na hampitaha ny tenanay aminy; fa tsy hendry ireny, satria manohatra ny tenanay amin' ny tenany sy mampitaha ny tenany amin' ny tenanay.

Izahay tsy mba sahy mampitovy na mampitaha ny tenanay amin-dry zareo sasany midera tena; satria hadalana mihitsy ny azy manohatra ny tenany amin' ny tenany, sy mampitaha ny tenany amin' ny tenany.

Certes, nous n' avons pas l' audace de nous égaler ni de nous comparer à de certaines gens qui se recommandent eux-mêmes. En se mesurant eux-mêmes à leur mesure et en se comparant à eux-mêmes, ils manquent d' intelligence.

But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

Pour nous, nous n' irons pas nous glorifier hors de mesure, mais nous prendrons comme mesure la règle même que Dieu nous a assignée pour mesure : celle d'être arrivés jusqu'à vous.

For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

Fa tsy toy izay tsy mihatra aminareo izahay ka mihoatra ny faritry ny anjaranay; fa tonga hatrany aminareo aza izahay amin' ny filazantsaran' i Kristy;

Car nous ne nous étendons pas indûment, comme ce serait le cas si nous n'étions pas arrivés jusqu'à vous; nous sommes bel et bien parvenus jusqu'à vous avec l'Évangile du Christ.

Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men' s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

tsy mirehareha tsy amin' ohatra amin' izay nisasaran' ny sasany izahay, fa manana fanantenana izahay fa rehefa mitombo ny finoanareo, dia hohalehibiazina ao aminareo izahay araka ny voafaritra ho anjarany, sady mbola handroso ihany

Tsy mirehareha ivelan' ny ohatra izahay, ka hirehareha amin' izay nisasaran' ny sasany: fa izao no antenainay: rahefa mitombo ny finoanareo, dia hitombo ao aminareo hatrany hatrany izahay, araka ny voafaritra ho anjaranay;

Nous ne nous glorifions pas hors de mesure, au moyen des labeurs d' autrui ; et nous avons l' espoir, avec les progrès en vous de votre foi, de nous agrandir de plus en plus selon notre règle à nous,

To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man' s line of things made ready to our hand.

ka hitory ny filazantsara amin' ny tany any ankoatranareo, ary tsy hirehareha amin' izay efa vonona rahateo ao anatin' ny voafaritra ho an' ny sasany.

ka hitory ny Evanjely any an-koatry ny faritaninareo koa aza amin' izany; nefa tsy hihoatra any amin' ny anjaran' ny sasany, ka hirehareha amin' ny asan' ny sasany.

en portant l'Évangile au-delà de chez vous, au lieu d' empiéter sur le domaine d' autrui et de nous glorifier de travaux tout préparés.

But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Fa izay mirehareha, dia aoka Jehovah no ho reharehany (Jery. 9, 23)

Izao ihany e: izay mirehareha, aoka hirehareha ao amin' ny Tompo, satria tsy izay midera tena, fa izay derain' ny Tompo, no tena olona voazaha toetra.

Celui donc qui se glorifie, qu' il se glorifie dans le Seigneur.

2Kr / 2Kor 10:18

For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

Fa tsy izay midera tena no ankasitrahana, fa izay derain' ny Tompo.

Ce n' est pas celui qui se recommande lui-même qui est un homme éprouvé ; c' est celui que le Seigneur recommande.
