Explanations in French | ( ?) Nom recueilli anciennement par Rochon, p. 282 de son « Voyage aux Indes », avec l'orthographe fantaisie « tchilotou ». Ce serait d'après lui une « tulipe blanche ». Il s'agit probablement d'un crinium (Amaryllidaceae) ou d'une Liliacée à fleurs blanches (le genre tulipa n'étant pas représenté à Madagascar) ( tsiloto veut dire « sans tache » ; immaculé »).
